| The Victoria Hall, Ellon |
“Erected for the public good: and to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the reign of Her Most Gracious Majesty, Victoria, Queen & Empress”
A quality Venue that, to this day, remains available to the people of Ellon and surrounding districts.
The Victoria Hall is situated near the centre of Ellon about half way along Station Road. Dating from 1901, the building is a historic feature for the town comprising two floors; the ground floor, together with its associated extension buildings, is occupied by the Ellon branch of the Royal British Legion whereas the first floor, comprising a large function hall and associated facilities (referred to as the ‘Victoria Hall’) is run by the Victoria Hall Trust.
The Victoria Hall was conceived in 1896 and completed in 1901. It features a generous solid maple floor measuring 19.8m by 10.3m, a stage, and an impressive 7 m high ceiling. Its large vertical windows together provide generous access for natural light during day time creating a wonderful welcoming atmosphere for those attending the classes and events.
In 1995, it underwent a significant restoration and upgrade programme to improve its facilities. Flexibility is provided through the provision of a well fitted kitchen, tables and chairs to permit its use for a variety of functions and special events and as such it is home to a variety of regular classes and activities and numerous private events such as receptions, parties and group meetings. |
